If a tooth has cracked below the gum, loosened, or decayed past the point of saving, our dentists can remove it today at our Northlake Blvd office in Palm Beach Gardens. Call (561) 867-8401 and a same-day time gets set aside for you, any day of the week. Call first, since we don't take walk-in visits.
The $99 is a minimum fee for patients paying without insurance. It covers a limited, problem-focused emergency exam (ADA code D0140) and the X-ray needed to diagnose the tooth. Treatment is priced separately and quoted to you in writing before any work starts.

Signs you need an emergency tooth extraction today
Four reasons account for most extractions. It split lengthwise through the root. Decay hollowed it until nothing is left for a filling to grip. Gum disease loosened it. Or an infection at the root keeps returning after earlier treatment.
Pain alone doesn't settle it. Plenty of teeth that throb all night are saved with an emergency root canal instead. Our dentists read the X-ray before deciding, which is why we won't call it over the phone.
One situation changes the order of events. Swelling that reaches the eyelid or the neck, a fever, a jaw that won't open, or any struggle to swallow or breathe is a hospital matter first. The nearest ER is Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center on Burns Rd, about 3 miles away. Hospitals treat spreading infection and injuries; they generally don't treat the tooth itself. Once you're discharged, call us and we'll finish the job.
What happens at your same-day visit
Your visit starts with an X-ray. One of our dentists looks at the number of roots, how they curve, and whether they run near the sinus floor or the lower jaw's nerve canal. Those details decide the kind of extraction and the quote.
When a tooth is still whole above the gum, the extraction is simple: the dentist loosens it and lifts it out whole. When a tooth broke off at the gumline, sits partly under bone, or has hooked roots, the extraction is surgical: the gum is opened so the tooth can come out in sections. Both kinds happen here, in the same chair, on the same day.
You get the written price before anything else happens. After you agree, the area is numbed and we test it before starting. Most people feel pressure and some pushing, nothing sharp. You'll leave with gauze in place, printed aftercare, and our number for that evening.
Cost of an emergency tooth extraction in Palm Beach Gardens
If you're paying without insurance, $99 covers the exam and X-ray. The removal itself is a separate line, quoted in writing; a one-rooted front tooth is not the same procedure as a lower molar that comes out in pieces. Nothing starts until you've seen the number and said yes.
We take most PPO and HMO dental plans and Medicare Advantage dental plans; with a PPO, HMO or Medicare Advantage dental plan, we bill the plan for the exam and X-ray. Anything beyond that can go on in-house payment plans, plus Sunbit, Cherry and CareCredit financing. Our cost and insurance page covers everything else about pricing.

Frequently asked questions
Can you pull the tooth on the same day I call?
Usually, yes. When you phone (561) 867-8401 during office hours we hold that day's opening for you, the X-ray settles that the tooth has to go, and the written price comes before the removal. The one exception is a large, active infection around the tooth, which sometimes needs a short course of antibiotics before it's safe to extract.
How do I know if it's a simple or surgical extraction?
The X-ray tells us, not the way the tooth looks in the mirror. A whole tooth with straight roots is a simple extraction. A tooth broken at the gum, under bone, or with curved roots is surgical. The quote you sign names which one you're getting.
Does a wisdom tooth count as an emergency extraction?
It can, but the roots and the position are different, so we gave it a page of its own: emergency wisdom tooth extraction. Pus and swelling around any tooth are covered under dental abscess treatment.
What should I avoid after the tooth is out?
Straws, smoking and hard spitting are off the table for three days, and rinsing is out entirely on day one. Those pull out the clot and lead to a dry socket, which hurts more than the extraction did. Stick to soft food, keep the gauze in as long as we told you, and call us the same evening if bleeding hasn't slowed.
